Our ego needs a story in order to stay alive. Our ego feeds on stories to justify our existence or our position (our need to be right). When we are stuck in our story, it is a sign that we are not learning from our life. Every time we tell a repeated story, we are being shown what we forgot to learn. Repeating a story keeps us in our history. Our history (story) is un-experienced data that is doomed to repeat itself, thus providing for us repeated circumstances that the ego uses to further justify its stuckness.
